Officially, it’s been just over 8 weeks since I made the transition back down to the Los Angeles market! I’m hooked up with a commercial agency and they’ve gotten me into some good auditions for just having returned to LA. Right now, I’m being billed as the “young, quirky Catherine Zeta-Jones” type in the 20-25 year old age category. I’m still getting used to this new identity, having been billed as a slightly different type in the tech-based Bay Area for the past few years. It’s not a bad change, but still something to get used to.

So far, I’ve booked a commercial and industrial job…both in San Francisco. But wait. I live were? To make a long story short, I had advance notice (rare!) on a couple of commercial auditions in SF, so decided to make the trip up and the rest, as they say, is history. For the industrial, I submitted a video to my agent via email and it worked like a charm! Let’s see….other good SF news…..just got word that I booked a guest spot on NBC’s new show Trauma thereby making me a full AFTRA member, plus I’m on hold for the lead role in a film shooting in October. As one of my agents says, I should move away more often!

And here I sit, a Los Angeles resident who is still a San Francisco actress, laying her head (temporarily) in the Napa Valley. And I must state for the record: 4 trips, at 400 miles each direction, is quite tiring. The thing that makes it worth while to make these audition trips is that they have turned into bookings for me. This wasn’t really what I had in mind when I moved, but it has worked out so far!

This is going to be my last SF audition trip for the rest of the year. From now ‘til January, it’s video submission or (hopefully) direct bookings. There are still 3 other planned trips back to the Bay Area before the end of the year, with a 4th in the works and hopefully I will get an audition or two in while I’m here. But I need to take the time to settle into a routine in LA and get to know the market a little better. Plus, I’m sure my LA agent would appreciate me being available for auditions there, too!

I am on the cusp of something grand, riding on the wings of change!
